Gas Stoves
Gas Stoves are a popular type of stove and amongst our best sellers here at Harridge Stoves. They have a very high fuel efficiency and can be fitted with more types of flue than solid fuel stoves can enabling much more flexibility of placement in the home. It is often impossible to tell a gas stove apart from a more traditional woodburner as they often look identical to the casual observer.
More often than not gas stoves are run off the mains (although there are some with a bottled gas alternative) and the lighting is instant - merely the strike of a match. With solid of multi-fuel alternatives, filling, emptying and constant monitoring are often required. Gas stoves are an excellent alternative if you are looking for warmth and atmosphere but without the labour!
There are several different type of gas stove:
A Conventional Gas Stove involves the gases exiting either from the rear or the top of the stove into the chimney stack. A liner is used that acts as a vent.
A Balanced Flue Gas Stove can be placed in a home even where there is no chimney as the flue is simply fitted so it exits via an outside wall of the house. All gases and emissions exit straight outside.
A flueless gas stove is rather self-explanatory as neither a flue nor a chimney is required. This is not something we recommend however as there can be problems caused by moisture levels in the room.
Finally there is a Powerflue Gas Stove which can also be used in homes without chimneys. Similarly to the balanced flue gas stove, the flue is placed through an outside wall allowing the gases to escape into the atmosphere. The difference is that the Powerflue Gas Stove uses a fan to propel the gases further away.
